Teenagers Eat All Vegetation On Big Island
VOLCANO, HI -- Two teenagers from Honolulu ate all the vegetation on the Big Island of Hawaii yesterday.

Big Island officials said the teenagers, Joshua and Jonathan McElfresh, were still hungry when apprehended by the Police.

Their mother, Vernelle McElfresh, admitted that the boys had eaten their parents 'out of house and home' numerous times in the past. On this particular visit to the Big Island, the family accidentally drove more than 30 miles away from the nearest McDonald's restaurant and could not return before the boys went into a 'feeding frenzy.'

Although Big Island vegetation was reduced by over 90-percent, local officials were certain that the devastation would not affect tourism to the island.

PHOTO NOTES

We haven't vacationed much since returning to Hawaii.

Frankly, to get anywhere, you have to fly; expensive for a family of four. The nearest vacation location from Honolulu is the West Coast, five to six hours away.

My favorite flying vacation is from Honolulu to Maui. That's about 20-minutes.

The Big Island of Hawaii is BIG. The whole island is more than five times the size of Oahu, where Honolulu is located. But the population is only one-tenth that of Honolulu.
